Time for our third 32-PICKLER TOURNAMENT. Check the event details in our HOME page.
Since 2016 we have offered summer mentoring for beginners and those wanting to improve their performance on the game’s basics. These free sessions are held at Sycamore Park on Carpenter just east of Clark. They’re by invitation only. We have two, 90-minute sessions. The first is from 9:00 to 10:30, while the second goes from 10:30 to Noon. You’ll spend your 90 minutes with three Mentorees of similar ability/experience. Every 30 minutes you’ll have a different Mentor. To get on any Wednesday’s “Expect To Be Available” list, email our Mentoring Invitation Manager Rune at Rune.Karsbaek@gmail.com. Over each weekend, Rune will invite 12 Mentorees. They must accept the invitation by 10:00 a.m. Monday, or they’ll earn a “strike.” They need to cancel, they must do so by Noon Saturday, or they’ll earn a strike. Strikes represent disregard for our volunteered time. One strike is overlooked. A second strike within a year results in your being banned from ALL, organized club events for six months.
Also, Mentors Bear, Dennis, John, Greg, Steve, Larry and others run Thursday and Saturday afternoon mentoring sessions at Hamilton from 3:00 to 5:00. No reservations or invitations or strikes involved. Some days there are only 8 students, and some days 20+ show up. We’ve served over 100 students at these sessions.
During the indoor season, we reserve a gym of six courts every other Tuesday morning at Canlan Sportsplex in Lake Barrington for mentoring. Students email Rune to be put on each, appropriate ETBA list. On Sunday afternoon Rune invites 24 Mentorees to participate from 9:00 to Noon on Tuesday. Every half hour they will have a different Mentor (6 in all). They have until Noon Monday to accept the invitation or earn a strike and be replaced. Students will be assigned a court, based on their skill and experience. The six Mentors will rotate courts every half hour so each gets to work with each Mentoree. Then those whose schedule allows, enjoy lunch a mile away .
